More than eight hundred indigent and special children from sixteen public schools in the special education program of the Department of Education enthusiastically attended the annual Golden Heart Manila: Handog Lingap last March 8, 2017 at Rizal Memorial Complex, Manila.

The event was seen as a huge success as smiles and laughter emanated from the children who took part in entertaining games including talent and variety shows. Additionally, children were taught basic swimming lessons courtesy of Bert Lozada swimming school. Moreover, sixteen multimedia sets were also donated to the public schools in order to sustain the children’s learning.

Every year, JCI Manila treats indigent and special children for day of fun and learning as it recognizes the role of children in the nation’s future. According to project co-chairman Ron Dumlao, the purpose of the event is “to spread awareness of the special needs, to advocate for their equality and to encourage participation and creativity.”

Other members of the group were Keith Rabo, Steve Sanidad, Aikins Tuliao, Cons Ong, and Project Chairman Mark Escay.
