The World at a staggering 7 BILLION Population Mark

October 31, 2011

October 31, 2011 represents an important milestone in human history, when the world population will reach 7 billion.
This unique moment in human history represents both an achievement and a challenge and will have an impact on the life of every Filipino.

A world of 7 billion has implications for reducing poverty and inequality, empowering young people and communities, promoting
environmental sustainability, and ensuring that every person is living with dignity. However, a world of 7 billion also offers a rare call-to-action
opportunity to renew everyone’s commitment for a healthy and sustainable world.

To mark this momentous milestone, the Junior Chamber International Manila (JCI Manila) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) join the entire world
in marking this milestone through a community activity that empowers and enriches the lives of the community. As part of the JCI Manila’s GK Field of Dreams
and the Dare to C.A.R.E. (Community Awareness and Rehabilitation Effort) Program for Smokey Mountain,  JCI Manila and UNFPA are jointly organizing a day of medical services,
sports skills enhancement, livelihood workshops,  cooking demonstrations and read-along sessions with the community members of Smokey Mountain.

JCI Manila will also mark the occasion by inaugurating the Kalinga sa Bayan Center (Health Center) for stroke victims in the Smokey Mountain community.

The event will take place on October 29, 2011 at the Smokey Mountain GK Center and Field of Dreams  in Balut, Tondo, Manila City.
